I have wondering these for years, and finally have got to ask.............

In parkades, underground parking lots, etc, WHY do the locals lift up 1 and sometimes 2 wipers and stick them up (off the window)?

it tells the owner that the guy they've hired to wash their car has done his job but more importantly it allows the windscreen to dry without smear marks from the wiper as opposed to having them down when the windsreen is still wet. next time see if the car with the wiper up is dirty or spotlessly clean?!

I thank you!

But what about in residential building's? Where we live, there are not people around that wash cars. And I can count so many cars that have done this, sometimes over 20....

Usually the same reason! My car is washed 6 days a week and those who clean it work through the night so you will never see them. I never knew people did that myself but you will find there are small groups of car washers that will be in residential buildings as well.

Great question. I have always wondered about this also. I like the idea of the "carwashed" indicater, however I have seen the same in Macau and these cars were in the street.

wolfgang my dear friend because the other wiper has dried and even more ever so importantly of importantest of importants ever in the field of imprtant car washing, each and every one of these car washing gentlemen carrying a bucket of water will differ by methods of washing a car as like why does an orange taste different to an apple and also like Chinese proverb 'man go to bed with itchy gluteus maximus, wake up with smelly finger'.
