Small brown insects

I have begun to have a small invasion in the last three days of small brown insects. Starting two mornings ago I found the bodies of a couple on my kitchen floor under the broom and again this morning. Now tonight just after midnight, luckily up late to see this, around a dozen of the critters came under the flat door, which has (or had) zero clearance do to foam tape to stop anything coming in.

The insects have small black heads, separate from a brown body, with short antenna and six legs, also short (compact to body), head-to-tail is around half a cm in length.

At first I thought they might be baby cockroaches. I have had three roaches in my flat in the last two years, the last one around 2-3 weeks ago, the first for six months. Looking online at a few hundred photos of roaches (I am now itchy all over and will have to shower before bed, haha) I can not find any that look similar to my little critters.

I was hoping to buy some traps tomorrow to put outside the flat door. Would like to buy the most optimal one, though currently don't know what I have.

If it makes any difference, there are also wings around as well, clear and small, perhaps also half a cm in length. Not sure if they are related to these insects or not. They have been around for a while though, thought they belonged to a type of flying ant.

Any suggestions on what these insects may be would be appreciated or links to photos so I can perhaps identify.

Thanks in advance.

They sound very similar to ones we've had the last 3 days, they fly around the lights, then drop to the floor, and the wings seem to come off. We seem to get them once a year for a little while. Just been using bug spray.

Well, as you suggested wings seemd to be left by flying ants. But the insects you described.... arent they rice bugs? Or relative of beatles. I am very paranoid about insects and have zero tolerance with them. I always have my house sprayed 3 times a year to make sure no insects or their eggs in it. I had a very bad experience with coakroaches when I was a child so if I know there is a coakroach in the house, I wont be able to sleep well the whole night. Hope you can find out what those bugs are.
