I'm about to buy a car through my company, and I would like to buy a SUV.
I'm used abroad that the price the dealer tells you is not usually the final price, and they have some room for discounts ?
How is the practice in Hong Kong ?
Anyone tried ?

I don't have experience buying a car in HK but the behavior dadda states is typical for many items. Discounts are small but they are happy to throw in a bunch of stuff.
For example:
- For our rental house, the price was rather fixed, but once we agree on it they threw in Plexiglas shields for the balcony, a dishwasher, new air conditioners...
- When my mother bought a new camera, she got a 2 GB memory card, an extra battery, a case, a couple of Fortress mugs (!?!).

We've just bought a new RAV4 from the Toyota dealership. No discount was given but they agreed to pay for our first year's road tax (HK$5K+) as a 'Father's Day' special. This is equivalent to a discount of around 2%. Not much but the best I was quoted when looking at other new cars (VW Golf GTI offered the same deal). They would have given us HK$2K off the Prius but we're just not right on enough to get that. Problem with asking for them to throw in optional extras is that many cars appear to be fully loaded at outset - there wasn't anything they could throw in. Probably different if you're buying an SUV from BMW, Mercedes, Porsche etc.

Almost no scope for discounting because of the new car registration tax. The importers have to declare their selling price to the tax office and can't vary from it significantly. This is to prevent them offering a 50% discount on the car (and hence reduced tax) and charging the rest as "first service inspection charge" or some such, which is not taxable.
