Sudocrem, available from Bumps To Babes, its the only thing (I have 5 kids) that I found to work on nappy rash. Its also great for mild eczema, bites, sores etc.

i will try the sudocrem and if that still doesn't work, i'll take her to see the doc. thanks guys.

Sudocrem is very effective but try to do the following
TRy to avoid using wetwipes as they iritate the skin. So use watermoistened cotton or toilet paper to wipe and then wash with water and dry well
When bathing baby (or if possibble more often) add some baking soda to the water and let her sit in it for while.
Allow babies bottom to air dry for 10 -15min between one diaper and the next as this really really really helps.
When diapering baby, make sure bottom is really dry and then put sudocrem or other cream that you buy and also dust with lots of cornstarch as this absorbrs moisture.
If your baby has had the rash for two weeks, maybe she's allergic to something u are giving her. Could be milk, fruit, nuts or somesuch thing (mine breaks out in rash when he's teething and also when he has blue berries, mangoes, or pomegranates.
hope this helps.

thanks goddess kali.
cara....
is it cooked oatmeal? or uncooked? do i just put it in the bath with her or i need to use it to wash her bottom?

thanks. i will try anything and everything.

hope the rash is getting better. make sure that you let her bottom dry well. i know its hard to let them without clothes when the weather is cool, but is swear letting them air their bottoms helps loads

The most important thing is to make sure that her bottom is COMPLETELY dry before putting the next diaper on. Otherwise the diaper creams [we also use Desitin, but anything with a high concentration of zinc oxide ought to work] just exacerbate the rash. Second, once it is cleared up, put a thick layer of vaseline or diaper cream on her DRY bottom before putting her diaper on at bedtime. This will help prevent diaper rash, and as a bonus, gives her bottom a teflon like surface, so cleaning up poopy diapers is also much easier.

less red is a good sign!!
baking soda is basic in nature, so it' supposed to help with diaper rash..

I had the same problem..nothing was helping at all..So I started using chlorine free dipers or cloth dipers and no rash since ..It has been 8 months now..
My little one has very sensitive skin and probably was alergic to some chemicals in normal dipers...
Give it a go...

do u know which brand has chlorine free diapers?
i used desitin and she's almost all better. should i keep using the desitin cream even when she doesn't have diaper rash? or shoudl i just let her go cream free but make sure she's dry?

If it's a yeast infection, then it probably won't go away til you get a medicated cream from your doctor. Do a google search of 'images yeast diaper rash' so you can get an idea.
Good luck!

Hi michelley, I second Ruth on getting some medicated cream from the doctor. When my daughter was little, she went thru the same stubborn rash and only the cream prescribed by our doc helped...I can't remember the name of the cream though. Good luck and let us know.

yes keep using the desitin.
Canestan is a good fungicidal cream for yeast. It's non prescription over the counter.

We use Desitin when we have diaper rash, but for everyday prevention, we smear a thick layer of vaseline on their [bone dry] bottoms pre-diapering before bed. Desitin is hard to find locally for us [Beijing], so we try to conserve it for the times we really need it.

thanks so much! i think i have this diaper rash thing under wraps...finally.

The absolutely best cream we have found is Balmex. Unfortunately we can't find it in HK. We get friends in the US to send the jars to us. Beats Desitin any day of the week.
"TRy to avoid using wetwipes as they iritate the skin. So use watermoistened cotton or toilet paper to wipe and then wash with water and dry well"
Very true. As soon as we stopped with wipes our #1's skin got better. Get a bunch of wash cloths (so you can wash and rotate) and use them with water.
"i used desitin and she's almost all better. should i keep using the desitin cream even when she doesn't have diaper rash? or shoudl i just let her go cream free but make sure she's dry?"
Always use cream. Always.

so true with the wetwipes! when i saw she got better, i started the wet wipes again, and within 1 day, she started turning a bit red again! so i'll just save wet wipes for going out.

Papaya cream is good, if you can get it here- I got some from Australia, in a red pot or tube. Looks like yellow Vaseline.

haven't read everything, but i'd lay off the wipes, wash baby carefully after a poop and make sure bottom is dry before putting a new nappy on (a friend of mine even used a blow-drier, bb loved it!). Also use a barrier cream with Zinc (it stinks, but it works wonders), a really thick layer as some will be absorbed by the nappy. Once skin gets better, try using wipes again, the unscented type for sensitive skin.
Be careful with Vaseline. It's a great barrier cream, but unbelievably enough, overusing it can create allergies (my son was, and I kept putting more and more on!!! Poor little bottom!)
Only used a barrier cream if bottom is red, not as a precaution if skin if fine, you risk overprotecting the skin, which will then be unable to cope with rougher situations.
