Hi.
Does anybody know where we can get a 'thumb guard' to stop our 2-year-old sucking her thumb?
Or any other ideas?
Thanks

I would also very much want to know. Mine is 26 months already but still needs to suck his thumb to sleep. No sign whatsoever that he will quit that by himself any soon.

Cara, regular spraying with sterimar and cleaning the nose, sot here's not much to pick on seems to help. sterimar is available at watsons and mannings. its sterile seawater. your son might not like having it sprayed though.
mine doesnt, but i hold him down an do it anyway

Hehe.. Nicher! I think boys give up pretty easier and sooner than girls. I was not willing to give up no matter what my folks tried on me so they just let me. but as i get older i only suck thumb at home or no strangers around except my folks. I wonder why i suck till 12? My son is never a thumb sucker and he gave up pacifier in one day.

i used to be a teacher and i can tell u....thumb sucking is a big no no!!!!!! i've seen kids who sucked their thumbs so much, their whole nail is gone.
if u have boy...it might be ok, but if u have girl, can u imagine when she grows up. NO NAIL!
now, my baby is only 3 months old and i cover her hands with scratch mitts so she doesn't get as much 'joy' from sucking as she would if they were bare.
but good luck and i would like to know any tricks how to get babies off thumb sucking just for future reference cause i see my babe going that route!
Happy New Year everyone!

well threaten him with the sterimar :), i use it too as i have lots of allergy issues, and i can tell you that its not fun.
u say ooops finger in your nose again, time for a good clean?
or maybe just ignore him, all my friends tell me that babies stick on to habits that drive their parents nuts, simply because they drive their parents nuts..
