Duvet tog rating

We're looking for a winter duvet - say 10 togs worth. After looking at many duvets in many shops it seems that togs do not appear to exist in HK and asking the shop assistant gets you blank looks. You can't go by weight since that's affected by all sorts of non-warmth related things. Does anybody know what 'all year duvet' or 'winter duvet' mean in tog-speak? And are these standardised terms?

I think a typical winter duvet in HK feels like 10.5 tog at best (probably less). On nights like these (10C) they are a bit inefficient for my liking.

If you're experiencing 10C in your bedroom that is grim. We were in a West midlevels apartment (top floor) last Winter and thought that was hellishly cold (9th circle), getting down to 12C in the bedroom. We now live in a house with double glazing and that's not got below 19C, yet. Our 4-tog duvet is coping, but only just. I'd be happier with 8-10 togs. One shop lady suggested that a 'winter' duvet would be too hot and that 'all weather' was what we needed.

Try Ikea, they do different warmth ratings (not tog ratings) on feather quilts, from 1-2, to 5-6 (the warmest). They also do the all year quilts, where you have a thin and medium quilt that clip together to make a winter one. Or just add an extra cover to the one you have.

By the way, where we live was apparently 2C the other night...
