Anybody know of a good place to play poker in Hong Kong without going all the way over to Macau?

Cheers,

Peter.

Thanks, I checked out M1NT recently just on a night out with some friends and asked about poker there, there is a league running there every sunday night. I checked it out last sunday evening, it was surprisingly professional! They had the whole place cleared out so there were just a row of poker tables and there were others there that had shown up for the first time, so it wasn't to exclusive or awkward. I found out there are two other nights within the same league, one night at prive on tuesdays which is on wyndham st and on thursday nights at a poker house on hollywood road. Im going to check out the poker night they have at prive tonight, i had alot of fun last sunday and recommend it to any poker enthusiasts!

the league is found at: www.hkpokerleague.com and the poker house at www.hkph.com.hk

I also found this link on the poker league site and the poker house site to another site, pokertvasia which is full of videos etc on poker from around the world, its kinda cool: www.pokertvasia.com

hk poker house is the best .. the tourneys at m1nt don't give cash prizes. hkph claims to be members only but i went recently and just sat down. its hkd 250 for a seat with 2 free drinks to play all night .. no rake. not bad if you are gonna stay for a while.

The deal at hkph isnt bad, 250 for 2 drinks and entry is pretty cheap and no rake? thats a sweet deal. I havent yet been for a cash game there but keep hearing more and more about the poker house so its on my to do list for this or next week!

yeah the hkpl games are for prizes but you get 2 free drinks and some of the prizes are pretty good, e.g. buy ins at macau tourneys, ferry tickets and hotel stay, not bad for a $300 buy in, with 2 free drinks..good way to improve your game at low stakes anyway, haha!

I've been playing at the HKPH a lot more now that there is no more smoking allowed. The air is so much better and my clothes don't stink anymore, haha. And I hear they have Omaha Hi once a week now. Also checked out Bankroll, which is in the same building as Poker House, 49 Hollywood Road, next to Pacific Coffee on Lyndhurst, and it's on the 2nd Floor. It looks like it was a Japanese restaurant in the past and they turned it into a sushi fusion place with poker. It's less serious than Poker House and you can play 5/10 blinds if you wish. The Japanese food is not bad, just keep in mind it's fusion, so you'll find rolls with mango and stuff like that. They don't have sashimi or a wide selection of fish yet. Seems to be connected to Poker House because I see both menus there. Admission is HKD300 and includes 2 alcoholic drinks OR 1 drink + 1 sushi roll. Pretty damn good value if you ask me. I'll be going back. And I haven't checked out the Poker League yet. I hear that's just for prizes, right? Like PokerStars tournament vouchers and stuff. May need to check that out as well. If someone has been, please let me know what's up. Thanks in advance.

I just called them, and they (=HKPH) told me it is a members-only place, and if I want to become a member, I need someone to refer me. I know a few of the regulars in Macau who told me about that place and recommended it to me, however I don't know them well enough to have a phone number or email address, so I could ask them to refer me, and the next time I will go to Macau will only be in about 5 or 6 weeks or so.

So is there anyone around here, who could help me and refer me? If you are worried about that, we can also meet up beforehand for a drink or something, and you can "check me out" and decide later if it is ok for you to refer me ;-)
