Bonjela unsafe? Alternatives?

Hi

I recently read that there was a problem with using Bonjela gel for babies - admittedly the company that makes Bonjela says that the Bonjela teething gel (which is the one I am using) is safe

Anyone know of an alternative to Bonjela for teething pain? I don't want to give Calprol all the time.

Thanks

Actually have double checked and I have the Bonjela fast acting gel for teething and mouth ulcers so looks like it is the stuff you can't use on kids. In which case can I also ask if anyone has seen the specifically branded "Bonjela teething gel" with a picture of a baby on the packaging in stores in HK?

Thanks

The Bonjela for kids and babies is fine and there is no problem. The adult version contains a chemical also used in aspirin which is not recommended for under 16's. Both the childrens version and babies version of Bonjela does not, confirmed by government labs. So an overreaction to stop using the baby gel, Bonjela has been around for many decades and has never been involved in any medical scandal.

Thanks evildeeds.

Branding is the problem though as my Bonjela says "for teething and mouth ulcers" - this is the one that Bonjela are rebranding as adults only for the reasons outlined in the Guardian article I referred to in my post. Have you seen the Bonjela teething gel (specifically for teething) in HK? I have looked on the Bonjela website and it has a picture of a baby on it, as opposed to the generic Bonjela gel which I have. My local Watsons and Mannings only have the generic one which is now deemed unsafe for children under 16.

Cara - thanks for the suggestion of ice lollies but no good for the middle of the night! Have used a cold water filled chewey during the day but it is the back ones that are coming up so it is hard to find one the right shape to go past the 8 front teeth.
