I am a mac user, signed up and paying for Netvigator wireless (at home) only to find they do not support the mac. The tech support says there is a way to hook the mac to the wireless but he does not know how.
Can anyone out there suggest how to do it? It is highly frustrating- our MacMini and the MacBook can't even detect the wireless signal. We do have internet access using an ethernet cable but that's not what I wanted! I have never encountered a wireless signal my mac couldn't connect to- I can't believe I am paying for just that!

You should terminate the contract with PCCW and get your full refund back, then switch to another carrier, it is the PCCW problem not yours.

If PCCW clearly state they do not support Mac it is actually not PCCW's problem.
Try calling Jay: 5193 1243. He is a Mac expert and might be able to help out.

Unfortunately, PCCW clearly stated that they do support Mac after they had installed it and discovered that it didn't work. I am still aghast that the largest provider in HK doesn't support the Mac.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Agreed it is a pathetic situation. I have heard of this problem before with Mac on the PCCW installed network. Not sure what the solution is, however Mac works fine on user installed wireless.

So I can install an Airport off the broadband box using a ethernet cable? That sounds like the easy answer if so.

Ok. Then that IS their problem. I am really not surprised, though.
And yes, installing an airport or other router is typically fairly easy.

I seem to have the same problem as Kitty. Ethernet via PPPoE straight out of the Netvigator modem works fine. But as soon as I hook up the Airport Express to the Netvigator modem it can no longer find the PPPoE server although all the settings are the same.
Is Netvigator not compatible with Airport Express?

I have not tried an Airport Express with Netvigator. I will, however, say that Apple branded routers in general are different to work with than any other brand consumer routers. Not saying they are "worse", just more convoluted. I mean, what's wrong with a web interface like every other router has? Why must I install a client just to be able to interface with the device?
While I respect Apple and their products, Airport is a case where, for me, they made it too much "our way or else" and tried to "fix" something that was working fine before.
Bottom line, I use routers from other brands for myself and customer. Buffalo is a current favorite. Good price coupled with good performance. And yes, Macs can connect to other brands just fine.

Pick up another router, I just bought one 802.11g rounter linksys under 200, it is getting cheaper and cheaper, or just switch out from PCCW, which should half responsible of this. There are over half million Mac users in the market.
