Does anyone know how long it takes during morning (7.45/8.00am ish) and evening (7pm ish)rush hour to get from Repulse Bay to Wan Chai/Central?

Also how much the taxi fare would be approx?

We know that route well. Technically my wife goes to Sheung Wan, but her office is just over the "border" from Central so the times are about the same.

Taxi at 0700 takes about 12-16 minutes. Taxi at after 0745 probably takes more like 20. After 0800 you're looking at 30+ minutes. For bus times add 10-15 minutes to those I guess.

Taxi at 1700 takes around 30 minutes. 1800-2000 probably more like 40+. Bus times, add 10-15 minutes.

Our friend commutes by scooter to Central. If there's no traffic, same time as a taxi. If there is traffic he is a bit faster since he can breeze past a lot of the queues. Very convenient with a scooter since it is dirt cheap and you can find free parking in Central.

Typically buses 6A, 6X and 260 are faster since they use the tunnel. However if the tunnel is really busy you can gamble and take the 6 and 66 over Wong Nai Chung Gap. Also at certain times the 260, which on average is fastest, becomes the slowest since it passes close to the Central Tunnel entrance.

The worst time of all is race night at the Happy Valley Racetrack. At those times, and any other time with heavy congestion and you are going home, make sure you tell the taxi driver to take the route over Magazine Gap. It's probably three times as far but will still be faster. And the view is great. ;)

Great thanks,

How much should I expect to pay for the taxi?

Sorry I forgot that. Typically 80-100 each way including the 5 tunnel toll.

axptguy, would you happen to know how much more time during rush hour it would add to live chung hom kok (cape road)? is 10 minutes on the bus a fair estimate?
