I've managed to leave a bag containing an antique sword and an antique spear in a taxi from Central ferry pier to Sai Kung on Saturday night.
Because I do not recall the taxi number, the taxi company want to charge for putting a call out on their radio. Trouble is, they say because there are several different taxi firms, there's a good chance the call will be overlooked so I don't fancy throwing more money away on that.
As the items are essentially weapons, I wonder if they will be turned into the police.
Does anyone know if the police have a lost property department or is that 'beneath' them?
Failing that, does anyone have any suggestions on other lost property contacts?

i would still recommend making the taxi call though. i got my passport back once like this

Did they charge you $500 to make the call?
I'd quite happily pay double that for a reward but I just feel that paying for the call is a waste of cash.

Overwhelming....
Perhaps I should have said that the swords belonged to my partner who I'm not sure is either, gay/straight, having an affair, not having an affair, religious, dead or even human.

Sorry, nothing to do with finding lost things, but your post above made me really laugh out loud. Good luck with finding your stuff and with your "alien" partner.

Glad you got a laugh.
That's what it was for.
After reading the rest of this forum, I just couldn't resist.
Maybe I should now add that said partner is pregnant and an out of work 'protester'.

both the police and the taxi company have a lost and found number, both free. i first found the taxi lost and found number using a search on this forum. try that. any police station can check for you.
they called me back an hour later and asked the details, unfortunately my lost non-pregnant, non-gay, non-protesting stuffed toy was no where to be found...

You don't have to go to the Police Station. Just click this link for a "lost property report" form:

Good luck!

We've left stuff on the taxi a few times in the past while we were living in HK. But each time we were lucky enough to have the license plate number. We asked the guard that lists down all the taxis coming in and out of the property, so we were lucky. We used the link hkjudy mentioned above and each time the police contacted us back to get more details. Both times our items were returned to us by the taxi driver. The police simply contacted the driver and told him.

Thanks guys.
I've filed reports with the police and contacted the taxi free call.

No joy as yet.
Not having the driver's details, I'm not holding out much hope for the recovery of the items so looks like I'm out a pretty penny.
