I hope that someone can provide some information on cheap international calls. Currently here in the UK I use a service called planet talk that for a pre-loaded amount I can use my mobile to make cheap international phone calls to overseas countries eg Australia at 4p minute - do you know if there is a similar service available in HK? I have this plan called : 1966 on my Cell. It gives me 3000 min per month to call almost ANYWYERE.
3000 min means I have to talk 100 min per day ! I do use it up, almost....
Costs : $48 nett.
Contact : 3162-3333
It's pretty good altho it does has some static sometimes; but generally bearable. It's so cheap that whoever calling me from overseas, I ask them to hangup so that I can call them back instead.
Or else, use :

These are prefixes before dialing the country code etc.
I can get you the contact numbers to those IDD companies next Monday as I have to ask my assistant for them.

Here's what I found about my plan (which I have had for around 3 yrs) from my staff :
1/ the 1966 plan is only offered to/compatible with 3-HK customers.
2/ as a 3 HK (Hutchinson) customer, I use 3000 min call time per month. So, the IDD call time at $48/month goes along the SAME call time plan you bought for your local HK call plan. If you only use eg 2000 min local hk calling plan, then, the 1966 plan will be only 2000 min.
3/ to sign up for 1966 plan, the C S hotline for English 3162-3333+2 (English)
4/ no need to sign a yearly contract. Can be on a monthly basis.
