Anyone has any idea of the charges of freelancer writers?
How much they normally charge for an article of lets say 500 words? Whats the going rate?

Quality freelancers will charge about HKD4 per word.

Rather you didn't lump us in with HK Mag etc... A lot of content in free mags comes from unpaid interns...
We have top travel writers (one does stuff for Prestige - one for Conde Naste) contributing to a new travel site that we are launching and we also have SCMP regular Tim Noonan on board http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/profiles/erin-ruck.html
I am referencing approximate costs for people of this calibre... rates vary somewhat depending on the volume of work and the length of the articles... but the norm is around $4/word.
