This is what is know as a 'set perm'. it is basically done using a similar system to the ion straight treatment. The main differene is the type of curl. The result is a softer, larger curl that looks more like you have set your hair using large rollers unlike conventional perms that create a smaller wave in the hair. The hair is also left in better condition than conventional lotions.

Can this be done on hair that has been ion straightened but is mostly grown out except for abt the bottom 3 inches?

GisaJob, its easy to maintian. no need to sleep in rollers and with most clients you dont even need to wet your hair every day to reactivate the curl. Its a different effect to the eighties style perm and the curl shape is more like a big spiral. It can work on western hair but you would need to consult your stylist to make sure your hair type, length and density will work. Hope that helps.

rugby, depending on how soft you do it the curl can last anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 or so months. Costs vary from salon to salon but expect to pay more than for a regular perm.
