Can someone tell me how long a bankers draft takes to clear?

A bankers draft was aparantly paid into my UK bank account last Friday but it still hasnt cleared. I was under the impression that these were as good as cash and cleared straight away.

Appreciate any feedback.

I used to work in a bank and it still takes 5 working days to clear because the draft could have a stop put on it. Yes it is considered cleared funds but the bank still needs to cover themselves against a lost or stolen draft.
