There is a good salon and they guy who works there is French his name is Laurant...just trying to think of the name, it's in an arcade in Queens Road. Let me try and remember and get back to you. All the models go there to get their hair done.

Hi Chic,
although i am not in hong kong anymore, i lived there for 8 years
at the beginning i faced your same very problem and hopped from one salon to the other
finally i found THE ONE! which i am very pleased and more than confident to recommend
its called HIPPFISH and its located on Elgin Street in Central
very easy to get there as you can take the escalator down in queens road, it will take you all the way up to Elgin Street where you get off, turn right and the salon is a mere 100m on the RH side, next to a Russian restaurant
their phone number is 2815 3638
jonathan was my hairdresser but patrick and the rest of the "family" there are as talented and professional
they cater mainly for "gweilos" and "gweipos" (i.e. expats) and they use only the absolute best products available
they perfectly understand the needs of their clientele and will be able to recommend and advise you on cuts, trends, colouring, hair extensions (had it done myself and was absolutely out of this world), perms, straightening, etc ...
hope this will help
ciao

Air, that didn't work. There were only TWO entries. This thread was much more helpful.

Loads of people I know use Hippfish and love it... I've got my first appointment there with Keith tomorrow so I'll let you know how it turns out.
I know what you mean about being particular about who cuts your hair - I absolutely hate having new people cut my hair! I take a real interest in what my hairdressers so when they talk to me about it and so when I have to use someone new I know exactly what I want and how it should be done. I tried convincing a new hairdressers how long it was going to take to put foils right through my hair and she didn't listen - 300 foils later she finally admitted I was right! You've got to be picky on these things!

Hi Chic, I am a stylist at The Hairdressers in Central. We have the largest international team in HK from, Australia, Canada, Germany, Austria, Japan and of course HK. We do alot of western clients here and specialise in coloring and color corection in adition to styling. We have more contempoiry and more creative stylists so I would be happy to recamend someone to suite you based on your needs. You are very welcome to come up for a consultation any time to see if you like the place and stylist. I think it is always a good idea to try the consultation to make sure your comfortable to go ahead with the stylist. You need to make sure they understand your needs and are taking you in the right direction.
There are some other good salons you can also try such as Philip George and Paul Gerrard. Let me know if I can help at all.
