installing LPG on my car

Has anybody ever installed LPG on his car ?


I would like to do this on my car, the trasnport department told me I could do it, but could not tell where I could do it.


Anyone knows where I can have this done & for how much ?

I believe it is illegal to install on a private car in HK - if you find out otherwise - please let us all know.

The Gov't claims the infrastructure does not exist to support LPG cars (ie. there are not enough LPG stations, and the ones that do exist are busy with taxis).

WDRL is correct. the only problem i've heard people have is that the pressurised tank for the gas is big and goes in the boot and so takes up lots of space.


no idea if it is legal here but it is increasingly common in europe.


Dude does make a good point tho that it might be an idea to look at a petrol/electric hybrid - the toyota prius is about hkd200k new, very economical and you can get petrol everywhere...

I actually called the transport department, we jsut need to write a letter to their examination department for them to grant us with the right to install LPG...

I just called them again & it is fine for private cars as soon as you send a request to their vehicle safety & standards division

Let's get this thread up and running again.

The government is profiting from our misery.

Most civilised countries adopt the conversion of LPG as a fuel for private cars as a matter of principle. In fact some governments provide grants for those wishing to convert to LPG. Everyone is a winner- less emissions and cheaper bills at the pump- everyone that is except the government.
