You may need to ask help of your employer regarding the filipino nanny visa. Have heard that because of the proliferation of "illegal" filipino workers in China - seeking work without the right documentation, the Chinese Visa department have refused to issue more than a month's visa to all philippine passport holders, unless supported by the proper documents.

I have discontinued to employ the filipino maid, due to her performance. Not sure if there's any new 'rules' as Kmom said, but it not 100% safe anyway as it's not easy to get them a working visa.
I have changed many rounds of nanny in the past 5 mths. I was so depressed at the beginning, but later, found out that I was not alone.
It's very difficult to get a good nanny or maid here, esp if you're a working mother. Stay in is another challenge. Moreover,it is also NOT a must that more money can get a better maid. From my experience, it's 70% luck, 30% training & patience.
Maid Agency is definitely not the best choice, to me. I found alot of dishonests there (I am not saying all of them, but most of those I experienced)
Try to ask around your neighbors or friends. Their maids may have some referral. Another way is the advertisements in Jenny Lou Supermarket. Actually, alot of maids are looking for jobs.

Yes, best to ask for referral from friends/colleagues. That way, you have some idea on character/personality of maid as well as performance. Hard to trust just anyone to be staying in at your home with your baby the whole day.
I recently encountered the "new visa" requirements and had to seek help of my employer for my nanny's visa.

i am based here in Shanghai, mostly expat families here have Filipino maids, we dont pay for any service charge because you normally find their names in xpat supermarkets,or in these site. their salary ranges between 3000-4000 RMB. visa normally costs 1000RMB for 6 months F visa plus need to pay for their airline ticket to the Philippines once a year.

What area will she move to in China? Does she have residency for Beijing?
What are her qualifications and experience?
What languages does she speak?

She is certainly not a chinese passport holder but a Philippine pp holder,and no Beijing residency permit. She'll be moving to Harbin City upon her arrival and temporary settlement for a job deployment from a good employer. Qualifications issue, She's a university level,honest,hardworking,could do many family chores,based with her experiences in her present area of job for 2 different families in a European country.She speaks English.I would highly appreciate any help or referrals for this job.
