I have been looking for good tailor to no avail. Many tailors boasted 24hours turn around, are they any good? Some friends suggested tailors in Mainland. I would prefer Hong Kong tailor for my business suits. Any suggestions for local tailors?

Thanks so much for the quick response. $5000 for an average quality wool suit will exceed my budget. Anyway, I will check out the above vendors. Thanks!

Sam's Tailor is supposed to be the best from what I hear...

Sam's Tailor is a tourist trap that just lives of the names of the celebrities who have passed through the store.

I know people who have tried it and have seen the products - was not impressed by fabric, cut (all seemed to be more or less the same, might just as well get off-the-rack), and workmanship (inconsistent seams, pieces of material not matched well where they meet, etc.).

Nothing fundamentally wrong with having the tailor shop do (some) of the work in Shenzhen - don't see the difference to having it done in North Kowloon/NT (which is the alternative - obviously, no serious sewing and cutting happens in the Central/TST shops).

Also, I (cautiously) support FOTH's endorsement of Taipan Row. The suits are quite good, but I have been disappointed with the shirts (materials, quality of the collars, etc.). Also, the senior guy in the IFC shop seems to have a better eye than the one in the Galleria outlet - cut and fit of my suits from the IFC are noticeably better. In any case, key is to have multiple fittings; take your time and don't let them send you off after only two or three sessions.

Try Bobby's Fashions Carnarvon Rd TST. Both my husband and I have had suits made there. Always been impressed. Also do a good follow up service where they will alter any clothes they have made - either bigger or smaller for no extra cost.

Thanks so much for all the info. You guys are fantastic!

I am looking for lady suit. I am very petite but not at all boyish in my figure. So finding fitting suits is a big problem. I spent lots of money altering clothes, sometimes over USD 100 just for alteration alone. Even big stores like Barney's New York charge me extra, normally they don't :(

Good fit and good fabric is what I am looking for. Elegant looking and not too flashy is best. I agree that Sam's tailor cater to a celebrity clientale.

Too bad most tailors don't have a package deal for ladies. Most of the time they would have package deals for Men's suits.

I tried one place in TST, I am sure I got ripped off as the fabric and cutting was subpar. It cost less than HKD 2000, so not too bad. Now I have many more places to try. Thanks!

Hello.

I am looking for someone to sew some items from patterns. The patterns are fairly complicated or I would do them myself. Can anyone point me toward someone who has these skills and who will follow the pattern? I am kind of getting tired of getting things made that are not what I asked for.

Thanks in advance!
