I don't know of any reason why not - my babies have all loved cheese.

I read an article from "Today's parents" saying that one may want to introduce dairy product to the baby when they are older. They may be allergic to it. It suggests to give it to them when their immmune system are stronger.

I gave my baby cheesecake when she was 10+ months old. She seemed interested in the food we were eating so I thought why not give her a bite. She loved it.

Cheese and yoghurt are fine - the enzymes in them have digested some of the milk protein already (or something like that) and so babies can digest them better than milk. Milk should be after 12 months.

My firstborn took cheese cubes (1 a day) when he was 4 months old.

Processed cheese is softer and not that bad, but high in salt.

Proper cheese probably better, my kids both loved it from well under 1 yr. You will notice if the baby has a reaction to it.

Hi,

My daughter has just turned 8 months and I have started her with some cheddar and she seems to be doing ok with it. The thing is you want to be careful and not give her a 'stick' of cheese to eat by herself. She can easily choke on it. I recommend feeding her small bits by hand.

Cheers,

Kam

It is not recommended to give dairy products to infants under age of 1 year.
