Where to get a good facial in HK? I tried three different places, including Institute Clarins and Body Conscious, and yes, it was nice, but it was not what I expected. When I visit my salon in Germany it takes about 2 hrs and is less expensive. OK, I know... I'm in HK now. But the treatments here seem to be quite strange, too. Normally, the treatment included steam, removing of impurities, brow plugging and make-up at the end. There was none of these in HK. Hhmmm...??? It was rather a facial massage than a facial treatment. At the end my hair was oily and they didn's apply any make-up so I felt like taking the next taxi back home and wash my hair. After the treatment in Germany I always got a make-up and looked ready for a date or job interview. And I felt great, too. In HK I rather feel frustrated...

I get them done at L'Image in HK. I like them. They do not offer make-up after and no brow plugging, but they do good work and I never leave feeling greasy. You would have to bring your own makeup for after.

Can someone explain the purpose of 2 masks, one on top of the other (this seems to be common practise in HK)?
I don't understand how the top layer gets near enough to my pores to do any good.
Feels nice though.

Ok - but do any facialists who do use this one-mask-on-top-of-another procedure answer my question?
I've only ever had this done to me in HK - have tried 3 different places and they all do the same.

Hi WomanWithBrain,
I went to a place in Causeway Bay (don't now the name because it was only in Chinese - I Chinese friend recommended it to me) and they did exactly the same weird one-mask-in-top-of-another-thing with me. 1. first mask, 2. kind of thin cloth on top, 3. second mask... ??? I felt quite uncomfortable with this "construction" on my face and as you I don't understand the point of doing that, too!

Hi Tia,
where exactly is L'Image? Do they have an internet page? I cannot find them.
Thanks.

Cara,
Will hot towels give the same result as steamer, I mean open up pores. Personally I don't like therapist using steamer on my face.

I was in HK last week and checked out the price of a regular beauty salon for facials in HK-it's twice the price of the facials in Singapore!Unbelievable...

I'm planning to try the spa at the new Four Seasons Hotel, going for a facial with a friend. Has anyone been there yet? It's quite pricey but sounds like they have a great set-up.
I would normally go to Elemis but it is impossible to get a booking.

The newly opened SE Spa in The Centrium is pretty nice. Very relaxing and bee-yotifully appointed. I tried the organic facial and it really left my face soft and lovely. Smelt great too. They're on 2530 3898.

hi - could you offer a reasonably priced but still nice salon near pokfulam? i guess central would be closest or somewhere nearer where I can get deep cleansing facials plus eyebrow trimming/waxing?
