Buying a wedding dress.

I am getting married in my hometown but live in Tokyo. I had originally thought of going to LA or Vegas for a week and buying my dress with my sister. All the shops I have seen in Tokyo have very fluffy, frilly, princess like dresses which are not my style. My friend told me that a wedding dress requires many fittings months before the wedding and I will have to buy it in Tokyo as I am only going home a week before my wedding. Is this true and if so are there any shops you can recommend in Tokyo?

When is your wedding? Would you look at having something made in the country you are in? You might need to start from scratch and get a photo from a magazine of what you really want. This takes time to end up with the right result though, maybe a few months, but at least you should get what you want. But in Japan it may be pricey.

There are also loads of bridal websites which sell around the world. You could buy online and have it altered. Davidsbridal.com is one of the biggest wedding retailers in the states but really mainstream and may not be to your liking - but worth a look.
