Can anyone recommend a nice, romantic restaurant in Midlevels/Central area that would be good for a first date? I'm not too bothered about the cuisine - just looking for a place that would be suitably impressive without looking like I'm trying exceptionally hard!!

Thanks!

Try Havana on Elgin Street. Great Caribbean-style food in reasonable portion and its mojitos + daiquiris are to die for. The restaurant also comes with a low-key intimate atmosphere with Cuban (or at least I think it is Cuban) music playing in the background in a not-too-noisy way. Excellent service too.

Enjoy :)

I would highly recommend ENOTECA on 47 Elgin Street in SOHO. Tel. 2525 9944. It's a romantic little restaurant with a garden featuring a water-wall in the backyard. The menu is great offering a wide selection on italian based dishes, NOT the usual pasta and pizza but exclusive 'wine platters' and wonderful creations of almost everything you could imagine. Their chef is awesome. In addition you get a wide selection of great wines without paying a fortune. Speak to the managers Rob or Kim if you want to reserve a quiet corner at the back. Good luck!!

M at the Fringe is good but the amount of times I went there all the romance was gone only because it is stuffed with people and therefor always noisy!
