We are currently planning to export our two dogs from US (mainland) to HKG. We understand all the health and documentation requirements but will be relying on an exporting/transportation service to handle all the details and actual delivery.
Any experience and/or recommendations on this topic: Who have you used? Were you satisfied with the services? Anything to watch out for?
THANKS!

You can do this yourself and save ALOT of money. I moved my cat from the US. I looked into a company and it was crazy prices. Call the Agricultural and Fisheries Department for the help. They will talk you through it anytime you need help. It can be tricky with weather and your permit is only good for so many days once you recieve it back from the Fisheries Dept. The most important is to have all the shots and documents in order from your Vet in the US. Some shots have to be done 3-6 months before the pets are allowed to come here. Do it yourself and save the $$. The pet companies charge too much and if you have the time and patience you can do it yourself. Its already expensive for the plane tickets. A trick too is to put a towel or something in the cages with your smell on it so the animal feels safe.

one aspect is the physical shipping of your dogs... the other is the life your dogs will have in HK.
If you have large dogs that are used to outdoor space to run around in, you might want to consider where you live and what this will be like for the dogs. Very few properties have 'yards' for the dogs to play in, and most flats are much smaller than the USA.
I am not saying don't bring them, I am just saying keep this in mind when choosing your new home - the outer islands (Lamma, Sai Kung, Lantau) and Sai Kung and The New Territories are good for larger dogs as there is more open space.
The Mid-Levels (near Central) is not very good for large dogs.
Good luck, I am sure they will get here safely and you will find the most appropriate place to live.

I suggest you use a professional pet relocation company. We moved our dog from CT to HK and used a Florida company, Air Animal (run by Dr. Woolf!!) in July 2004. Cost was about US$3500. Even at the height of summer, everything went very smooth. While you can DIY, there are many forms required especially if you are moving from a rabies state.- this issue caused us some last minute headaches but Air Animal sorted it out.
