This might be a better solution (see link), it could make marking in the underpants a viable option?!?

I would recommed a Sangean ATS 909, there is a small "mom and pop" type electronics store in Queen victoria street in central which sells Sangean shortwave radios. The 909 is considered to be the "top of the line" portable shortwave at the moment.

go to radiointel.com or eham.net and read some reviews.

Back when I was searching for a shortwave radio there were several really good websites (one in the Netherlands as I recall) that reviewed shortwave radios. Sangean was ranked high as I recall - I ended up with a Grundig 700 after several Sony's. I have generally been pleased with each sw radio I have gotten, except for a cheap analog Sony a few years back.
