Could anyone tell me where I can take my 4 year old to ride his bike. He can cycle around our childrens playground where we live but we would like to find somewhere he can go for a fairly long cycle ride. Is there anywhere like Bowen Road (which is perfect for kids to cycle on) where cycling is not prohibited. Thanks

If you fancy a drive, then take him to Tai Po waterfront park, several cycling routes round there, you can even cycle all the way to Shatin by the river, very flat so great for kids.

The Tai Po waterfron park is fantastic and very safe.
You could also try:
Down in happy valley the big walking/joging track around the sports fields besides the hong kong football club. Octopus parking in the street adjacent or ventris street and carry his bike over.
The first part of the Lugard road walk on the Peak (the part nearest the peak lookout restaurant is flatest) but there are a few bits without railings where you might want to ask him to keep to the hill side. Parking in peak galleria.
The Deepwater bay to Reupulse bay boardwalk (except it is concrete) parking either across the road from deepwater bay beach in small carpark or on the road by octopus card or at the other end in the beach road carpark at wellcome or small carpark or octopus on the road. Again you will have to walk the bike across the road for him.
Pokfulam in Shum Wan drive near the Stanley Ho sports ground at the children's hospital end of the road there is a wide access road down to the waterfront in front of the sports fields which is a nice wide walled sea path. You can sometimes park in the side road path or perhaps there is parking for the hospital.
All of these are great during the day on weekdays.

Thanks for both your suggestions. They were very helpful. Went to Tai Po on Monday and did cycle on the river route towards Shatin. He really enjoyed it. The park there was also great. Will be going there again as we really enjoyed the day. Will also check out the other routes. So thanks again

We were walking on the weekend and the first 1km of the Tai Tam Tuk walk from the resevoir end is a fantastic place for a four year old to ride. It is the road on the way to Shek O - just keep driving past Stanley. Just before you get to the causeway (bridge) that goes over the resevoir on the left hand side is the start of the walk. 6ft wide path with fencing, lovely shady cover and some really nice bbq areas if you are so inclined. I am sure it is almost deserted during the week and there were a couple of spaces were cars were pulled in right at the gate. After the first 1km the walk is all uphill to Parkview - but the first part was great - our six year old made it all the way but not without a bit of moaning - next time will walk downhill from Parkview!

Thanks ness. We have done the Tai Tam Tuk Walk from Parkview end. Hadn't thought about going the other way with the bike but my little boy would love it cos he loves looking at the fish and turtles in the reservoirs.
