I bought one at WingOn last year.

We got ours at Wing On, too.

You probably know this already, but fire extinguishers have a shelf life. We got one when we first moved here and then several years later had a fire in the ceiling fan in our bedroom. I was relieved to have the fire extinguisher, but dismayed to find the charge was gone--it needed to have been recharged each year!

thank you both...knowing where to get one saves me lots of time. I will check it out at wingon tomorrow.

hey mythoughts, little accidents like that can really shaken you up...thank goodness you're still here to tell us about it. this is what i get paranoid about, especially now with a baby in house.

do you know where to get the extinguishers recharged? I got one online five years ago and of course won't be able to use it now...will definitely get new ones.

Sorry April, I don't know about recharging--which is partly why the next batch of fire extinguishers I got (also at Wing On) were the disposable type, so we could toss and replace when they expired.

The fire department might/should know about recharging fire extinguishers though.

On our fire, fortunately my husband was home and he had the presence of mind to tear the top off the thing and, standing on a ladder, literally pour handfuls of the extinguisher's powder onto the fire, which did the trick. I still think about it though, our down duvet below, things could have been much more serious...

There's a specialist shop in Queen's Rd East directly opposite the Wanchai Wet Market that has loads of extinguishers and fire blankets etc.
