Macau Wedding...

Usually you have to be a legal resident of a country to get married - although some honeymoon destinations do waive these restrictions.

You should also check on legal documentation required (Certificate of Not Married or something similar).

Why can't you take the ferry over to MaCau and check with the civic authorities, given it is such an important point in your life - maybe the hotel has info, talk to the sales department.

Make any reservation conditional on being able to comply with all legal requirements.

Another point - do you require a preacher/vicar/other to participate in the ceremony at the hotel? Better get this arranged, and paid for, to.

Finally, get two or three duplicate copies of the marriage certificate - in case you need them in future years.

Some interesting links:

MaCau has a reputation of being a 'forced marriage facilitator' destination - women from Indochina (where I live) and the Phils are unwillingly married to pimp-type husbands which suggests that documentation might be lax.

We had a Macau wedding in 1997. However, because we weren't residents, the easist way is just to do the HK registry wedding. I left work early one afternoon, and we did this. It was just my husband, me, and two witnesses.

The following month we had our "real" wedding in The Cathedral in Macau. We had to bring a priest over from HK so that we could have our wedding service in English. We had our reception at the Military Club afterwards. (We also stayed at the Westin and had the rehearsal dinner there.)

We're both American and just considered the registry wedding to be similar to getting a wedding license in the US. Don't even remember the exact date of the first wedding (it's on our wedding certificate, though) and celebrate our anniversary on our church wedding date. We had a brilliant time. Macau is a wonderful place for a wedding.

Good luck.
