Does anyone know if there are beginner Spanish lessons available in Hong Kong (Island side)? A friend and I are looking to learn a new language and meet new people...

I've taken classes at SCOPE, the CityU school of continuing education. Contact them, or contact SPACE at HKU, or the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. They were very reasonably priced, plus you can have the government pay 70% if you are working full time. Be sure to ask for teacher credentials however, and sign up for a course taught by a trained tutor, rather than by a Spanish housewife.

Thanks for the info. Resonably priced is a good thing. However, we are looking for a social setting that is co-ed, as we are also trying to increase our social circle. Thanks again.

Check out La Sociedad Hispanica de Hong Kong: http://www.hispanica.com.hk/

It is a non profit organization and so all courses and membership fees are used for the benefit of members. The price for the lessons are probably the MOST reasonable in Hong Kong (30 lessons for HK$2500 last year). The society also organizes many cultural activities for students and guests which is super fun.It is a great place for busy working adults to come learn Spanish from native speakers and meet new friends :)
