Shar Pei Dog, Where to buy?

Does anyone know where I can buy a Shar Pei dog from? I preferably want a puppy.

I am interested in your comment, I have actually read that the breed has changed since many years ago and the skin infections are not so common in todays breed.

The sharpei will eventually come back to the uk with us and I believe the climate will be more suitable for his skin as well.

If you know any different I am very interested.

Please I beg you to think very carefully before you buy a Shar pei. I had one for 5 years and ended up having to have him put down as the operations adn problems just got too much for him. They suffer due to the wrinkles from eye problems, ear problems, feet problems, and most of all skin dieases. Don't get me wrong I loved 'SPud', mine so much and still miss him dearly. But the suffering is awful and all the operations and medication and special washes not only hurtful for them but extremely expensive. Also do you realise they were actually bred to fight so therefore are quite a controlling dog and anybody who has one will agree. they need to have loads of professional training in order to not take control. They are very loyal and guard well but can be agressive. 'Spud' was the most beautiful pet, on a good side they are very fun and love to run and play. They are alos complete show offs and love all the attention they recieve. I would be very caareful to make surew you are really sure this is the pet for you as having to destro something you love dearly is the hardest thing.

Please for the sake of a lot of pain and suffering think of another breed of dog.

There are so many abandoned puppies that need good homes in HK, and I have seen several Shar Pei crosses. Please consider this, and enquire at the SPCA or other rescue organisations before spending an enormous amount on a pure bred pup.
