You know spotlight the shop that sells those craft materials, textiles etc.? I hear they have one opening in Causeway Bay next year but in the mean time, is there any shop that's the equivalent of that? I want to buy stuff to decorate my apartment and also fabrics.

They will be opening in Kowloon Bay at the mega Box building - so sorry you will have to cross the water!

Otherwise you need to head down to Sham Shui po. Cheung Sha Wan to the hawkers bazaar, and shops around about for small stuff like tassles, and other stuff. There is no one stop shopping that I am aware of for this sort of stuff.

There is a shop on Cheung Sha Wan rd, (exit B1 of the MTR and walk left when you get to road level) that sells some stuff and fabric. can't find their card tho - sorry!

Went at the weekend and OH MY GOSH !!!!

They sell gorgeous linen, much better than IKEA and so much more choice (Disney, Barbie, Bratz etc for kids) and also 'grown up' bed linen too.

They sell all sorts of homeware (kitchen etc) and have a fab arts and craft section with scrapbkg, card making stuff, sewing machines, drapery department that makes curtains and blinds too for $420 PLUS material (which is about 25-40 a metre) and also have a haberdashery section with lovely clothing material.

And all rather cheap too! Will be going back.

Thanks for the update Totty. I hope to go at the weekend for a look-see. Did you get the shuttle bus from the MTR station?

We drove and be warned, going at the weekends you need to be there by 10.30 at the latest as any later and you are going to queue.

We left 1ish and they had Police directing traffic it was that busy.

We went saturday and parked in the building next to it so had no queues. There is actually lots of carparks nearby, so at the moment it might be worth parking in one of these and having a short walk.

Does anybody know or used Spotlight for curtains and blinds. I tried going to their website and to use them but couldn't get the "contact us" link to work.

It says on their website that they will send out a person to your home to slect and measure your windows in order to get some blinds or curtains made.

Has anyone used this service?

For those of you who have been to Megabox/ Spotlight, how easy would it be to get there on public transport with a baby stroller? I've heard that there is a shuttle bus, which may not be so stroller friendly. Thanks!

I would rather pay more and have the goods in a good envoirnment so the fabric does not rot or have moths and it's nice and air conditioned. The heat here makes it nearly impossible for me to trek around the streets.

They charge $420 PLUS material to make curtains and blinds and it takes about 2 weeks. Most curtain material is around the $40-$60 mark and i think it works out pretty good.

Yes you could go to Schenzhena and get them made but if you are a UK passport holder you gotta pay thru the nose for a visa.
