Just ran out of ideas of what to do this weekend...family of three ( including a baby boy)...went to repulse bay last sunday...
need info on :-
Ngong Ping cable car ? ready yet ?
Bicycling in an outlying island? where ? Bucycles on rent ?
Country park picnic ? Allowed ? Where ? Best options ?

Why not look at Hong Kong for Kids a Parents Guide. It is a really useful up to date book and full of great ideas and will keep you busy for a while. In regards to the cable car it is not open yet.

There are mountain bikes for rent (for both adults and kids) near the market of Fu Tung Estate in Tung Chung. $40/the whole day/bike.
You can ride by the waterfront of Seaview Crescent then 'round Caribbean Coast which I think is safe for the kids..Haven't discovered the trails there yet..

Hong Kong wetlands park is a geeky but fun way to spend the a day. They have lots of indoor activities (very important, considering the weather forecast), and even if(when) it does rain, you get to see some cool creatures you may not otherwise- the mudskippers are certainly entertaining to watch, if the bird hides are a little dull after a bit.
