Went on a diet 6 weeks ago and so far lost 1 kilo a week so in total 6 kilos lost,on my 7th week this week but stayed the same which is so frustrating as i still need to loose another 6 to be the size i once was, why has my body just gone on a stand still when i sticking to my diet the same as i was before?

Apart from diets and exercise, our body metabolism changes as we age. The body's ability to retain fats, water and fluids changes. Plus the body's mass also changes. Mass does not necessarily equal to that of weight. So you may have the same weight as you were years ago but you still not able to wear the same dress size you had. Especially if you are caucasian. Caucasians increase in body mass faster as they age compared to asians like chinese.

My experience in weight lossing - normally our weight will stuck after you've lost several kgs. It's some kind of platform period. You can't give up during this period and need to relax and keep working on the diet and exercise thing. The period may last for a few weeks but once you've break the point, your weight will start going down again.
One more thing to share - the hardest issue is not to lose weight, is how to maintain once you've reached your target.

Totally agree with Tanquera. One thing to try though is to vary your exercise - for some reason wee become immunie to routine so try cycling instead of walking or some different machines at the gym to kick start you again. Don't give up!. My worst habit is 'rewarding' myself when I see progress which is only a step backwards.

You didn't mention if you combined diet with exercise during the 6 weeks that you lost weight. I think you might have reached a plateau here. If you weren't working out, now is the best time to include at least 20 minutes of cardio and weight training in your program. Try to vary the food choices in your diet, and you'll see the results in no time.

It's best to use body measurements as an indicator if we lost "weight" since muscles are heavier than fat, and there is the factor of water retention to consider.
