Can anyone please reccommend the best cards for calls to europe, south africa and Australia/New Zealand?

You can call a mobile or landline from your computer... quality BLOWS away skype.

Skype works on Macintosh.
But, as hemikiwi8 points out, such a service doesn't answer the question completely. Very clearly there is a need for a telephone to telephone connectivity solution.

there are lots of shops selling international calling cards in the world-wide house (central)..few in yuen long, tst and jordan too.

I've tried a couple to call NZ. In the end I settled on the normal PCCW "Hello" card which I purchased from 7-11. The rate is ok rather than cheap, but the call quality is good so a reaonable trade-off. The HKD 100 card gets you something like 2 hours call time (I think - it's been a while).
