I have never had a car accident in my life... until this morning. IN Canada, I have heard about the claim procedures, but in HK, this is totally new to me.
We only have 3rd party liability insurance in HK for our cars. SO, this morning, at the entrance of the TKO tunnel, this woman hit my car's rear end. No injuries (thank goodness), but my car's rear corner is cracked, and has a few scratches, and the bumper is loosened a little. Not major, but definitely some damage to my car.
I took the woman's name, HKID number, Licence plate number, her mobile number, and the tunnel patrolman took a picture of our accident.
Tonight, the woman even called me to ask how I am, and how's the car. I haven't replied definitely to her, I told her, I have to get my husband to inspect the car as I only drive, know nothing about the car's damage. I told her I would give her a call in the next two days if there is siginificant damage that I need her to pay for.
No police report filed. We just exchanged info.
I just want to know, do I just tell the woman to pay for my damages? Or what? What if she refuses? At this moment, she knows and admits 100% it's her fault and wonders my damages.
Thanks for any information.

Take all steps to settle direct. I had a similar incident with costly damage to my car, the other party's insurance co wanted me to pursue a dangerous driving case to 'prove' it was her fault - they were not content with her admission. The police weren't interested in the case and it would take 18m+ to come to court so I sued the driver via the small claims tribunal. Their 3rd party's insurance co represented them and eventually the insurers paid up in full, inc court costs. They wanted to settle on a lower figure, but I hung. Took nearly 6 months, I suggest settling directly if you can.
