Can someone please explain to me the difference and recommend a nice, realxing, reasonably price, hygenic salon too please that do them in a french finish.
I have never had falsies as i have nice nails in the summer but come winter they split, break and go too short, hence the reason for wanting falsies.
And yes, i have already searched thru and haven't found a thread that answered my question. Thanks for your time.

I dont know the difference either but do have acrylic nails. I have the infills done every 3 1/2 wks. I have them done at Jade Nails inthe Admiralty Centre and they every time I go they clip off a lot of the old acrylic and the nail underneath looks fine. Their main business is with nails and they are very good. Believe me I have been to 3 or 4 in HK. They charge $400 for infills which is the same everywhere in HK. Cant remember the price of the tips when I started off last year. The salon is very clean, loads of English mags to read, nice music and I enjoy my time there. Its easy for MTR or get a taxi who drops off at Admiralty MTR and its just up an escalator. I have nothing to gain from this message other than they are very very good.

I get gels in MandiPedi in central which I think are much better than the acrylics I used to have.
I find that gels are more natural looking and less damaging to the nail - also if you get French polish, it won't chip as the white tip and pink are done in coloured gel, unlike acrylics on which the French polish is painted and therefore can chip.
However, the infils take ages (over an hour) and cost more (but then it used to cost me about $200hk in London to have them refilled and only take 50 mins and it's about $500hk here and takes ages).
