Microdermabrasion vs peel

Hi, was wondering what would be a more effective treatment for ance scars and pigmentation on the face, a facial peel or microdermabrasion? Can you recommend anywhere in Sing that is reasonable?

Hi there, pigmentation and scarring are treated differently so it important to prioritise on what bothers you most. Microdermabrasion is excellent to remove the top layer of dead skin to allow better product penetration and it also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. A course of treatments in conjunction with home care products would be good for the scarring. Pigmentation is my demon, and one that is best treated with chemical peels that penetrate into the levels where the pigmentation lies. If the pigmentation is surface pigmentation eg. sun spots and freckles, the IPL and laser machines work well in removing it. For deeper pigmentation that is lighter in colour but covers a larger surface area, this is in the deeper levels of the skin and light therapy eg laser/IPL could potentially make it worse. This is often hormonal pigmentation and youmay be able to lighten it with treatments and products but it may not completely disappear. If you are on the contraceptive pill, please make sure you wear a 30+ sun protection daily as the sun with make your pigmentation worse. If in addition you smoke, maybe think of kicking the habit as this again interferes with the pill and your hormones and may inturn affect your pigmentation. For pigmentation peels and a good home care routine come into practice. There is a range called COSMEDIX which I highly recommend. Don't know who distributes or sells it in HK. I am familiar with it from AUS. In terms of scarring, Vitamin C would be a great product for you to help aid in the production of collagen fibres which will strengthen your skin and will build up a natural defence against the sun.
