Tasting menu with wine (for two) is well over HK$5,000. It's very good, but for prices like that, only for special occassions.

We picked our own items of the taster menu rather than the set one and with drinks bill was around $3500. Fantastic service, food and sommelier but tables are just too close and we had a really annoying guy sitting right next to us - everyone had to hear about all his fine dining experiences worldwide etc. If you're in a party of 4 plus shouldn't be a problem it just seemed to be the couples.....

Going there tonight. It'd better be good for those prices!

Kellieja, do you recommend doing the tasting menu or just ordering a la carte?

The food overall was good, not stellar, but not something I can find fault with. The only dish that was incredible, though very simple was a langoustine wrapped in feuille de brique (kind of like a spring roll wrapper). What you are paying for is definitely the quality of the ingredients themselves. The crab was handpicked and sweet, the tomatoes really flavorful, etc.

The service was impeccable. We've been to quite a few 3-star Michelin restaurants and this service was right up there with the best of them. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly without being too obtrusive.

Hubby had the 8 course tasting menu (which wound up being 7 courses as he swapped the two desserts for a cheese platter) and I ordered stuff off the a la carte menu. We drank a bottle of Billecart Salmon Rose which at $720 was the only thing on the champagne menu that didn't give me heart palpitations!

All in all is was definitely an enjoyable experience. Our bill came to $4000, so we'll be on cup noodles for the rest of the month!

A funny aside to this story: The crab dish is served in a hollowed out crab shell, which when brought to the table the waiters make sure to tell you that it's for decoration only. Nevertheless, we had a couple sitting near us who I guess meant to have their money's worth, so started cracking open the crab claws, legs, etc only to find (I suppose from the way they were peering into the claw like a telescope with one eye closed), not much meat.

They then started making so much noise trying to suck out said non-existent meat from the decorative crab shell that the waiters went over (very discreetly, to their credit) to tell them AGAIN that the crab shell was for decoration only.

The couple waited until the waiters walked away then kept right on sucking those empty crab claws like you wouldn't believe. After about 3 more minutes they finally gave up, much to the delight of all the diners around them!

I am so happy you found the service to be impeccable. It is a huge problem here to find seriously capeable wait staff. Most are friendly and kind but lack any idea of what food/wine/service is all about in most places.

I like the Billecart Rose too - I would have thought it was at least 900-1000 there !

I will leave the crab thingy for a pm to you.....
