Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for a nice, crispy Peking Duck? I DON'T want a 'tourist trap', and would prefer a place a bit homey and not expensive.
I've had it at the American Restaurant in WanChai and was unimpressed (very doughy pancakes, greasy duck) and at the Peking Garden restaurant in Pacific Place, where it was very nice. But I'd like to find some additional places that folks recommend.
Thanks

I like Peking Garden as well.
I also recently tried one at Dynasty... superb service, they steam EACH basket of doughwrap as you finish, and re-steam if it's cold.... and keeps bringing you fresh ones, and the duck was very good too.

The Spring Deer in Mody Road TST is one of the most traditional Peking Duck restaurant in town. It is my favorite. It doesn't have fancy decors as it still sticks to its traditional old style chinese reataurant decor. Oh, btw, please do not get mixed up between the real peking duck and the "crispy" duck you get in chinese reataurants in the UK, they are completely different. It would be wrong to call Peking duck crispy!!! Spring Deer also have a lot of other fantastic dishes!!! Must try.

Another vote for Spring Deer. If you want more authentic Peking food, Spring Deer is the only choice. Excuse me for being blunt, IMHO those more fancy restaurants has too much flash but too little substance. It's my experience as a local Chinese who has endured numerous torture at restaurants ran by accountants than real chefs.

Spring Deer, without a doubt. Be sure to book well ahead of time though.
