Hi, I am 25 lbs over my ideal weight. I feel sad, depressed and insecure. I am doing atkins right now, and have been on it for a week. I know is not long term, I just needed a kick start. Has anyone been succesful on atkins? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to lose 25 lbs?

kscm, I strongly advice you to research deeper before going on the Atkins Diet...www.mercola.com, perform a search on "Atkins Diet", it will give you loads of helpful information.

Aulelei, it may worth your while to do the same on South Beach Diet.

Jwm,

Yup, I used to work out when I was doing Atkins. Now I still work out at least once a week.

I've done Atkins and lost weight, but gained it back plus more. I have discovered the only true way is to count calories and exercise. Just make sure that you eat less than you burn..its actually quite easy. There are several programs on the internet that you can download where you put in what you eat and how much your exercise and it calculates for you. I suggest trying this if you want to keep the weight of for good.

Check out www.3fatchicks.com. It's a good forum that pretty much covers all the popular diets out there. Reviews them, has support forums, recipes, fitness info and it's totally free.

adkins...

the creator died of a massive heart attack. And everyone that I know who did it, lost weight initially and gained it all back. I don't know a single person who has managed to keep it off. Yo yo dieting is the worst thing you can do for your metabolism anyways. IT just slows it down.

the truth of the matter is it is down to calories and exercise as listed above. A regular lifestyle changes will do greater benefit than any diet.

hkchoichoi, your information is wrong. Justin is correct. Dr. Atkins did not die of a heart attack, though many cynics of his diet would be happy to spread that rumour.

The Atkins diet is effective and safe. I lost 70 pounds in 8 months. However, as Dr. Atkins himself says, this is not a diet but a lifestyle change. If you are unwilling to go low-carb for life, then do not do this diet as it will just result in regaining the weight.

Personally, I've decided that I would rather exercise daily at the gym rather than go low-carb. Atkins was just too difficult to keep up for me.

Personally believe the Atkins is a ridiculous diet and what others have said is correct, eat less exercise and the weight will come off
