Budget $600. What to buy??

agree with waffle. In Guangzhou, we recieved back half of the amount we gave to the bride and groom.

Well I was going to refer you to the thread in the Gifts/Presents category (or whatever it was called) where back in January I'd had the same question about what was an appropriate gift and had lots of great answers. But the category seems to have disappeared! Ed? What happened?


At any rate, I was told the best thing is to just give money, (waffle, is that lai see?) preferably an amount that ends in 8's, e.g. 188, 288, 388, etc. (although I'm guessing 488 would not be good, the 8's won't offset the 4). Should be given in a red envelope, although at the wedding I attended there were people like me who bought a card and gave the money in that, and they all seemed to be in pink envelopes (I looked high and low for a card in red envelope, but they were all in pink).


At an earlier wedding almost 2 years ago I gave a silver picture frame, and was informed would have been better if it was a frame for two photos, or to give two frames. The lucky numbers for certain occasions thing.
