I was just wondering if anyone else was having the same issue with regards to getting replies back to offering to purchase goods for sale. I have posted replies to two different ads and have received no return message or phone call. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? This has been occuring over the last 8 days.

Often people post ads and they sell stuff very quickly... then they ignore the messages that come in after the sale ... in an ideal world they would delete the ads.

Oh btw, items get snapped up even faster since we put this option in place:

If it makes any of you feel better, it works the other way round too. I've been selling stuff recently and have had at least a dozen messages from people saying they're interested, then after I've replied to them I've never heard from them again.

I know the feeling as well.
And there was one time I told a lady to hold an outdoor shed for me, I even offered to transfer money to her account but she said not necessary, that she would hold for me until I was free to collect on Saturday. Then the day before Saturday, I called her to arrange and she said, "Sorry, somebody else came to pick up on the same day I posted so I gave her".
I was furious. First of all for not holding for me and second of all, for not even calling to tell me.
So it's almost like if you like something, you have to reply quickly... and if you get a response, make sure you go IMMEDIATELY to secure those items or at least transfer the money ASAP. It can be gone within the hour.

I posted a similar thread the other day. Someone placed an ad, I said I'd take it, then no reply. Then about 2 weeks later, the same ad appeared but item priced slightly higher. I wrote in saying I had pm-ed to earlier ad and got no reply, then he replied saying sorry, typo with price the last time. Said he'd meet up to pass me the item when he had the time. Think it's been about 5 days now and I've yet to hear from the person. Shouldn't he be eager to try and get rid of the stuff? Or perhaps, he'll advertise again with a higher price. Sometimes, when I'm interested in an item, I write in asking for more info and then depending on what their reply is, I may or may not reply back. For eg. if they say something like 'pls contact me again if you are interested', then I may not pm the person again if I'm not interested. Idavy, the only reason why someone would contact after seeing an ad is, if they are interested. But then there's a dozen reasons or more why someone would then lose interest in the item after you've replied them. I once told someone that I wanted to buy some phones. When hubby found out, he didn't want me to get them and said he was going to get me one as a X'mas present except that in the end, he didn't. That time I didn't reply to the person as I had already said I was going to buy the phones and then because of what hubby said, didn't. I felt really bad. I should have written in and apologised but didn't. Very bad of me. A few days ago, I saw a phone ad i liked, contacted the person and picked up the item a few hours ago. Yesterday, I left my laptop on the whole day, desperately waiting for some replies and there was none. Hmmmm...

Most people are not repeat sellers on the trading post so unfortunately that is not an option that would solve the problem...
