Well, I can't say it's happened to me exactly, not the comments anyway, but perhaps an occasional 'oggle'! I can certainly think of may comments that I could make, but daren't print them here otherwise Ed would probably ban me! The best course of action I think, is to wait until a good looking guy comes into view and make some comment to the other girls at your table, and see how the guys like it.

Ignorant men like that just aren't worth bothering about. You're right though, pack-mentality like that is just crass...

I once had the great misfortune of going out with a guy who did this to me ONCE and i felt so belittled that i went up to the girl in question and told him that the guy sat over there thought she was hot.
Needless to say he was VERY embarrassed as he spent the rest of the night on his own.
Now i'm not saying do that, but it is a laugh, but say to your gentlmen friends that you could introduce them to the girls they're oggling, you'll probably find that they become terribly tongue tied and sheepish!

This issue really annoys me, men can be so rude sometimes! Fair enough they're allowed to appreciate beauty, but what they're doing is belittling women, both the women they're ogling and the women who have the misfortune to be out in public with them. I love the idea of approaching the other woman and telling her your friend thinks she's hot, brilliant! Plus the women they're checking out always think they're idiots anyway, I know anyone who's rude enough to comment about me as I walk past always gets a 'look' (you know the look girls, i'm sure you've all given it! The one that makes them feel like an insect) Men have this incredible ability to act like children when they're actually adults, it's amazing.

I think these men are being very disrespectful to both you and the women they are oglingg... it is unfortunetly all to common for men to under value women of asian descent based on their "cute and tiny" appearance...
Perhaps they need to be put in there place...
Or perhaps you need to diss-associate with these types of men...
or perhaps the world needs to learrn to change...
Have faith that there are more courteous men in the world. Have the courage to take action towards the solution to this problem.

First of all, ethnicity of the woman in question is not the issue, in any case if another expat woman were to walk past and your date gawks an passes a macho comment that is still disrespectful
I've had such an experience before, with a local guy (I'm asian) so I can attest that it's very insulting. He even looked at women who weren't exactly 'hot' (as they would say), while he was having a drink with me. I found him to be very unclassy even though he was of a wealthy background, extremely vain (exercises all the time and wears tight t shirts), superficial expectations (women who date him should be athletic, minimum 5 foot 6, certain cup size, weight), not too experienced sexually, from a good family
That was the most toxic date I ever had in my life

I used to live with an expat guy who always referred to western girls as "gweimui" in a really horrible tone like he was talking about a species of insect. He lectured me constantly about how much better his asian girlfriend was than me. One day I got fed up and said "Oh well, there are plenty of ugly old white men in Hong Kong with beautiful young asian girlfriends" and he got really upset and defensive. It was awesome.
Another guy was telling me that I would be past it soon at the ripe old age of 25. I couldn't really think what to say. So I asked him whether he thought he or I would have more success if we lived in the Caribbean where the guys are all sexy muscly and well-endowed (and love big white booty- hooray). He looked thoughtful for about two minutes before some girl walked past on the street and he turned to gawk at her...

I cant believe you all have that happen so often to you. I would NEVER noticeably scope out and certainly not comment out loud like that in front of other women. Well it depends on the other woman, my old boss, who I travelled with often was quite a bit older than me and also a good friend. She would laugh and joke with us, her two young male shoe designers about the girls we'd run into in Miami where I worked at the time. But I wouldnt have dreamed of saying spanish girls are so much better than german ones (shes german).
Same goes here, when the girls I work with ask about the girl they heard I went out with the night before, I always play down my date in relation to the girls who are asking, but the idea is never to compare any woman you are with in any way that would be unfavorable to any other. Thats the most disrespectful thing Ive ever heard.
Im a guy and I still think you need to put those guys in their place over that. I just wanted to apologize on behalf of the other guys who are making some of us look really bad here. We arent all like that, please try not to generalize too broadly.

I dont think the gawking boys have an agenda when they do it, I think they're just thoughtless. And from the lurking males checking out this post we know that it's not ALL boys (thank god!).

I have an AWESOME male friend who likes to joke about sexy women, and we both check girls out together .
However, he also intitiated an interesting conversation about how wrong it is that women are portrayed as sex objects for advertising. To back up his point all he had to do was point to a billboard across the road where a skinny girl in a bikini was rubbing herself against a cold beer (where's the link?!)
We also talked about the most beautiful women either of us had ever seen (mine was a chubby, plain-looking belly dancer in a Morrocan restaurant who just looked utterly comfortable in her body, his was a middle-aged mum smiling at her daughter).
So inevitably most guys think he's gay because he doesn't see women as inanimate objects. But his girlfriend is pretty flippin' hot.
Did anyone read about the computer generated woman with Barbie's proportions. It was found that her back would be too weak to support her upper body, her torso would only have room for half a liver and a few cm of bowel, and she would suffer from chronic diarrhoea. Sexy.

1. they would feel threatened and intimidated if they married the woman of their dreams
2. the woman of their dreams probably would have nothing to do with them anyway
3. they actually realise that looks fade but, hopefully, everything else improves or at least stays

Attraction is an interesting thing, some people can be attractive without being sexy, and others can be not generically good looking, but very sexy. I have a friend who is a bit overweight, but my god she has gone out with some stunning boys! I agree with Totty about how guys react to who we consider to be beautiful women.
Honestly, some women I've thought are gorgeous male friends have told me they think she just looks vain and high maintenance.
