Any body had dinner at either one of these venues? Suitable for a party of 16 persons or not?

Harvey is expensive for what it is.. and can be souless. FFF has just opened, so going thru a soft opening, so may be a good choice give the staff some training, and you may be able to keep the costs down, in having a set menu.

Had lunch at Frog Face Fish on yesterday (Saturday).


It's good but, considering the price of its set lunch, great and a real bargain!!! Highly recommended though service was lagging and may pose problem with a large group


Food: Have its three course set lunch ($125) + 10% service charge. In all, very few places in HK that makes western food tastes western to me. The other one is Zest, under the same management.


1. Soup and salad: The potato and fennel soup my partner had is superb and probably the best we had ever taste with this kind of soup. My glazed walnut salad is refreshing while does not give me an oily taste in my mouth like the dressing I had at most western restaurant in HK.


2. Main dish: My main dish of Sea Bass is OK. Skin side was perfectly seared but the meat was rather and tasteless, kinda reminding of middle of the road Cantonese steam fish. Not that bad though but could be much better and tastier. My partner's Spaghetti with clam sauce is high on our list, a tasty dish reminiscent of the fresh scent of the sea. The clam's meat is just right, plump and not overcooked. A must for those who like this type of food.


3. Crispy shrimp - a no no: We also order a dish from its a la carte menu. This crispy shrimp seemed to be inspired from Japanese shrimp tempura; however, it left a lottttttttt to be desired but should be OK considering this is not a Tempura restaurant. The dish came with battered fried shrimp, alternate with a piece of orange for each shrimp, on the bed of salad with some indistinguishable dressing. The crispy shrimp is nothing close to what we can describe as "crispy". It's more like a shell of baked batter, which is not thin enough, and, unlikely typical fried shrimp you had at typical American seafood chained restaurants which, to me, is good for its style, was reluctantly coated around a shrimp. Shrimp meat inside retained no sweetness of its mother nature, reminding me of a piece of sea protein than anything else. Avoid if you can and the chef should ASAP visit TenYoshi in Causeway to try to understand how battered fried tempura is done and should taste like.


4. Dessert: Dessert left a lot to be desire. I had a Cointreau soaked bread pudding which tasted french toast in Chinese tea restaurant which, too bad, dragged down the heavenly vanilla ice cream that accompanied it. My partner's strawberry mouse was just OK but it continued to taste more western than typical western restaurant in HK, a good sign to me.


Service: Service was rather lagging and needed lots of improvement, quite a few steps down from Zest, ie. slow and wasn't there when we need it. Bread took quite a while to come to our table and only when we asked. I will be very very cautious if you plan to book a big crowd there.


Ambience: Quite cozy and relaxing. Should be nice for a dinner dating. However, we get the smell of the exhaust pipe and fume from the traffic just outside the restaurant one in a while as they left the door opened. While this sounds cheap, an air curtain like the one at 7-11 has will solve the problem and make it much more pleasant and inviting in leaving the door open.

Thanks to everybody who posted, appreciate the input. In the end did not go to either venue but instead to a cooking school called 6 Senses, that was a great experience for the group!

OKAY! We were a group of 15 (max size is for 16)and no one knew the location or what we were eating, so having followed clues to find the place they were all most surprised to find them selves in an offcie building in Wanchai!


We were divided into teams and each team was assigned two dishes to prepare, all ingredient and instructions provided and with help from the staff off we went.


To cut a long story short an excellent time had by all, fuelled by BYO wine we created, pasta with spicy garlice prawns, fish cakes with cucumber sauce, pasta tossed with greens and ricotta, baked salmon with fruit salsa, thai lemongrass chicken rice salad, eight treasure rice with lotus wrap, and dessert was chocolate molten cake!


Hightlight was everyone naming their own creation before we all sat down to eat. Highly recommended for something different and fun

As little as $400pp depending on what dishes you choose, we had salmon and they also provided chees and 2-3 glasses of wine each so $528, well worth it though and served good quality NZ Sauvignon blanc and Wolf Blass shiraz
