US passport - china visa

Has anyone holding a US passport received a multiple entry visa for China?

My company's travel agent says they don't issue them and I find that hard to believe (I know they are costly and difficult but I thought not impossible).

I'm curious about others' experiences because I'm tired of getting double entries again and again to travel for work.

Thank you!

After having had single and a double entry, I tried for multiple and had no problems. Concorde Travel service applied for all of them for me. They are very easy to work with!

Good Luck!

I have a 3yr multiple entry for china - i think you must be a PR to get this though...

You can only get multiple after you have at least one single or double. It is for 6 months. Since you have double entries already, it should be no problem for you to apply for a multiple now.

You can only get the 3 yr multiple if you are PR as Ed says.

In addition, be aware the rules change ALL THE TIME... So what I and others wrote above could be out of date tomorrow when you try. The prices change month to month as well, which is quite annoying!

Thank you everyone. I brought this up to my company travel agent and they said since I've only had L-type visas (tourist), I couldn't now get a 6-month multi entry visa. Apparently you need a business visa before the 6-month one will be issued. Windled - did you enter on a tourist or business visa before getting a 6-month multiple entry? It's rather interesting that my company agency is getting me tourist visas for work. ;) I'll try Concorde as well. Thanks again!

The travel agent is wrong. I had 2 single entry L-class visas before getting my multiple entry business visa. I haven't heard from my friends here of anyone having problems with going from single or double entry visas to multiple business. This is the normal way to do it. Perhaps the agent gets better commission selling these to you.

If you can, I would suggest you just go to another agent and bill company for the expense.

Prices can change each day and availability as well. Over heard one agent last time I was getting a 6-month visa, asking their contact on the phone if it was 'available today'. Sometimes seems a bit doggy getting a China visa here in HK.

If you want to go right to the source, go to any of the China Travel Service offices. The two I've used for visas are on Java Road in North Point and the big one on Harbour Road (or maybe it is Gloucester Rd.) in Wanchai. I had several one-year multiple-entry visas, even after getting HK P.R., and then just tried my luck and have since gotten two consecutive three-year multiple-entry visas with no problem. The last one cost (I think) HK$1080. You need to bring photos and a copy of your HK identity card.

Travel agents advertise they can do this for you, and several can, but their prices vary wildly and also by your nationality. The cost for me was actually cheaper at first through the agent than direct through CTS but, as other posters have said, who knows. I thought three years was important enough to go directly to CTS. Bottom line: of course Americans can get visas for China; of course it is a hassle (after all, look what Chinese must go through to get a visa for the USA); and of course the rules are going to change without warning. Finally, and for sure as of right this minute, American passport holders cannot get on-the-spot visas at the border for Shenzhen. Yet.

Thank you - I'll try CTS. I've asked my company for a double entry business visa with hopes it will help me get the 6-month multiple entry next time. Thanks everyone!

The best place to go is the China Resources Building in Wanchai. They should be cheaper than CTS (I assume CTS charges more to make a profit)and they are the ones who make the final decision about visas anyway. I have always heard the same info as above about getting single/double entries first, but my friend just got a 6 month visa with no previous visas. They even gave one to her son, which I thought was impossible. So it really does depend on the day.

We can process the 6 month multiple entry visa for US passport holders if you had previously aquired a multiple entry visa. Normal processing of 4 days is going to cost HK$1180

If you have NOT aquired a multiple entry visa before, then you will have to get two (2) single entry F-class (Business) visas on two successive occaisions. The price of a single entry visa is HK$650 and it takes 4 days to process. After that, you can apply for a multiple entry visa.

Strange rules if you ask me.
