OK I'm not in HK yet but soon...sooo if I wanted to travel from Central to North Point MTR what kind of travel time would i be looking at? 15-20 mins more or less?

OR maybe better still, approx how many mins b/ween each station (I realise this will vary sometimes) but an average will do.

thx again

The MTR is very reliable, only on rare occasions will trains run at long intervals (platform screen doors have helped in this regard). The minimum time is 11 minutes, waiting time is 2-3 minutes.

The MTR is also up with the times and has a website on which all this information can be found. The Journey Planner near the top right hand side. You can the whole journey or one stop at a time. The time at stations is about 30 seconds - so sometimes it's not "pretty".

On the HK island line, its roughly 2-2.5 minutes per stop. I commute Central to Quarry Bay every day - its 1 stop beyond North Point and the journey is roughly 15-16 minutes.

Agree with above, about 2 mins per station is a good estimate when using the MTR. Allow a few minutes to wait for a train outside rush hour. In the morning once you get beyond Causeway Bay the train isn't too crowded, even during rush hour.

Make sure you factor in walking time to the station and also to work once you get off the MTR. Depending on the station you can spend quite a while getting to the exit even before you get onto the footpath.
