i ve been in hk for 6 mths - received bonus only in Feb 07.

1. when is the deadline for tax filing?

2. what is the cut-off date - is it until 31 Dec 06?

3. Will i be sent a letter from my company telling me my total income for the year and which is also sent to the tax authority? i haven't received anything like that yet, so does it mean i shld wait?

4. Is there e-filing somewhere? and a website i can check the rates, rebates etc?

Thanks in advance to whoever will reply to my msg. :)

Tax in HK is very simple and only requires one form to be filled in - for most people.

The tax year in HK runs from April to March. Tax forms for individuals are sent out on the first working day of May and you have one month to complete and return it. Your employer will give you a form at the end of the tax year, i.e. in April (which it has completed) showing your annual income which you use to complete your tax form. You don't send in the form from the company with your return - the company files that.

Yes you can complete the form online but you need to set that up first.
