Hi

We are moving to HK from the US. Is there a way to use our electronics (kitchen-aid, microwave, iron, blender...) without blowing the fuse?

Thanks

don't bother bringing any of it.

I used a transformer and still managed to burn out the motor of my precious kitchenaid...any of the big appliances are just not worth the trouble.

that being said, we found the telephones in HK expensive and not as much of variety as the US, so we brought over a gigaherz phone and bought a $20 USD transformer in Wanchai and used it very very well.

but the appliances...ugh. My friend set her coffee maker on fire, even with the transformer.

Thanks so much for all the info!

I guess I will have to leave all my expensive appliances here and just get new ones in HK.

Are these kind of things more expensive in HK?

We brought our USA 110V food processor to HK, bought a voltage converter (about US$70) and it worked fine. If you buy the wrong converter you will burn out the motor.

The food processor is not a cheap item to buy. For other things; iron, microwave, telephone, buy in HK. You can get some pretty good deals.
