To other nursing moms,

Not sure if you have heard of this site - http://www.modestmommycover.com - they sell nursing aprons very similar to the ones from Gracemama but a lot cheaper. Check it out if you're interested!

Happy Nursing!

oh, the colors are nicer than gracemama. Cheaper by $10 too. Calling nicher, you might want to get again ;-)

I'm happy with my nursing apron, HKchoichoi, thanks to you.

do you use the nursing apron?

breastfeeding okay?

I loved mine (I have two from gracemama, although one has been taken by a friend) and really used them well. Easier to lug around than bottles for sure!

Hi girls,

I've got 2 from gracemama too and I love them - very useful! I see now you can buy it from Paparus in Prince's Buidling. I just saw the modestmommycover website in the Parent's magazine last week - and I am tempted to get one! Oh well I probably won't as I plan to stop breastfeeding in May....

My girl turned 5 months old on Mar-3 and she's doing well. She's quite a big girl, already wearing 6-9M clothes and they just fit her. I plan to introduce solid to her next month and I hope it won't be too difficult (she's very curious about our food and always have this funny look on her face like "Mom I want to try your food.." hahaha).

I have quite a few trips to do in the coming months and many other moms have advised me to keep nursing as it is handy when flying - in fact I love nursing my baby it's such a wondering feeling and bonding - but I also miss wearing normal clothes without worrying about breasts leaking milk.....

How are you girls doing?

My #2 is now 1 year, small for her age, but full weaned and off of pureed stuff and onto regular finger foods. Stubborn one too - she loves her Korean food!

If you want a list of foods to introduce when, and also a weaning schedule (just what I did - not a masterful thing or anything, but just what worked for me) I'm happy to PM one to you. Just let me know. IT is a vegetarian approach and based on Super BAby Foods by Ruth Yaron.

also

when you start weaning, your breasts leak less. AT around 6 months your body is much more efficient at delivering milk and leaking less, so you don't have to worry about leaking milk. With my first I was CONSTANTLY wearing breastpads but with my second, I barely wore any. (in fact I have several huge boxes still left.) It'll get better.

I miss breastfeeding. I had to wean because of a death in the family and when I came back, baby wasn't interested any more.

Hi Ladies,

Thanks to your original posts about the aprons, I bought one in the U.S. while on vacation for CNY. It's GREAT! I got the Bebe au Lait (or also called 'hooter hider.'). :) I believe I paid 39.95 USD, a bit more pricey, oh well. My husband was a bit annoyed that I paid that much for an 'apron!' But it's worth it to me. Our little boy is now 3 mos. and is breastfeeding like a champ, I love my special time with him.

If you're ever in Kona, Hawaii, there's a terrific store there in the International Market called Aloha Kids, from Birth to Surf. They have all kinds of great goodies, things you see on the web but in one physical location. Sigh, we had to buy another bag to accomodate our baby goods we bought, ha ha!

Wow Chrispy, thanks for providing a cheaper apron option for us :) I love my gracemama one a lot too (though I don't use it often as I always stay home nursing).

I'm also thinking about when to stop breastfeeding. It's sweet to maintain this unique bonding with baby, and it's convenient too. But like Chrispy, I kinda miss boobs back to normal size :P

Hi HKchoichoi, chrispy and nicher,

How are you? my baby is doing well too, he's now 5 months, still on BF....when to stop? no idea yet, i set it on a monthly basis, it's now 5 months, i'll give it another month, then next month, another month, in that way, i won't feel that it's still a long way to go if i set it at 12 months ;-)

I breastfed #1 until she was almost 14 months old. Once they wean, it's less of a commitment to breastfeed. Instead of being the end all be all source of food - you gradually become a supplement, so at 10 months, for many people you are down to 2 feeds a day - one in the morning and one before bed. SO don't think it is 12 months of feeding non stop the way you are. It gets much easier, and then you really love it when it's not as often because it is quiet time that the two of you are sharing and bonding over. I LOVE that time and miss it so much now.

But good to hear that all are well and bfeeding. I remember many were worried about the whole apron thing to begin with because they didnt' know if they were going to be able to breastfeed and EVERYONE DID IT!

Hi hkchoichoi - yes that was me who used to worry about being able to bf. But with encouragement from you and other bf moms, I told myself to persist and it actually ended up much much easier than I ever expected. With sufficient milk supply, no nipple pain from the beginning, and a contented baby who's been gaining weight well solely on my milk - nothing else makes me more proud as a first time mom.

My Mom-in-law actually asked me politely when I'm going to stop bf (perhaps she thinks she is able to participate the feeding part if I bottle-feed) I said at least when baby has past 6 mos. If bf is going to be even easier after baby starts solid, I'll continue as long as I can manage then! Just don't want to break this bonding yet :)
