Apart from a flea/tick collar, which I'm told is not recommended by many, can anyone tell me how to avoid my dog picking up ticks. I understand that there's a liquid which can be used, which is very safe, expensive and difficult to obtain.
Could anyone please point me in the right dirction, what to use and where to buy? Would it help if his fur was cut short?

I'm sure there is more than one on the market but the one we use is called Frontline and is good for fleas, ticks & lice according to the package. Got it from our vet. It's a topical liquid that is applied monthly.
